My 1st line of defense to keep pests out of the house is to keep the perimeter dry. The second line is a substance that, unlike sodium fluoride (once used as a roach poison prior to Alcoa's paying off the American Dental Association to promote it for tooth decay) is non-toxic to humans (including children), but deadly to pests. I had our attic dusted with it. And I got rid of drywood termites with a derivative of this substance. I don't want any pest control products in my house that are toxic to humans. And I don't want to poison the soil or ants or other living creatures outside my house with toxic pest control products.

Our veterans may be the only ones who have had the experience. Though after the recent hurricanes here on Clearwater Beach the National Guard visited our neighborhood and handed out MREs. Be aware of what you put on your skin. Especially if it is a chemical that increases skin absorption of harmful chemicals. Found in cosmetics and on disposable razors. And learn a better way. Old school, traditional approaches are often safer, less expensive, and less toxic to the environment.
